HEXCO Guidelines on Writing of Examinations

Official examination guidelines and regulations for all HEXCO candidates. Please read carefully and adhere to all requirements.

2023 Edition - Mandatory Compliance Required

Mandatory Compliance Notice

Every candidate must read, understand, and strictly adhere to these guidelines. Any deviation may result in disqualification from examinations. These guidelines should be read in conjunction with the HEXCO National Examinations General Operational Regulations (2012 Revised 2023).

1Entry Requirements

Required Documentation:

  • Proof of Registration: Individual Confirmation of Entry for the subject
  • Valid Identification: National Registration Card or valid passport
  • Important: Candidates without proper identification will NOT be allowed to enter the examination room

⏰ Arrival Time: Candidates must be seated 15 minutes before the examination starts. Late arrivals (after 30 minutes) will NOT be admitted.

2Prohibited Items & Conduct

STRICTLY FORBIDDEN - Automatic Disqualification

Cell phones or any electronic devices
Foreign material (notes, books, papers)
Head gear (caps, hats, scarfs)
Handbags or personal bags
Sharing of materials during examination
Writing on question papers

Examination Conduct Rules:

  • No candidate may leave the examination room until at least one hour after commencement
  • Candidates will NOT be allowed to leave in the last 30 minutes of the examination
  • Visits to rooms of convenience must be escorted by an invigilator
  • No discussions or consultations between candidates are permitted

3Answer Script Requirements

✓ Required Actions:

  • Record serial number of answer booklet
  • Sign in on examination identification register
  • Use same color ink throughout (script & register)
  • Do rough work in examination scripts (draw line through it)
  • Ensure script is intact when submitting

✗ Prohibited Actions:

  • Writing names inside or outside answer booklet
  • Tearing sheets from answer book
  • Using different colors of ink
  • Using scrap paper (not allowed)
  • Writing anything in question papers

⚠️ Alert Invigilator: If you receive an answer booklet that is torn, has loose pages, blurred serial number, or faint lines, immediately alert the invigilator for replacement.

4Examination Malpractices & Consequences

⚠️ DISQUALIFICATION OFFENSES

The following will result in IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION and ONE (1) YEAR SUSPENSION from all HEXCO courses:

1.Possession of cell phone in examination room
2.Possession of prohibited foreign material
3.Writing on/in the question paper
4.Sharing of material during examination
5.Tearing sheets from answer book
6.Using different colors of ink in one script

⚠️ RESULT NULLIFICATION OFFENSES

The following will result in NULLIFICATION of examination results:

  • Writing names inside or outside the answer booklet
  • Failure to write candidate details on cover page of script
  • Using different handwriting in the same answer script

⚠️ ANY FORM OF CHEATING DISCOVERED BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER MARKING WILL LEAD TO DISQUALIFICATION ⚠️

5Computer-Based Examinations

Additional guidelines apply for computer-based examinations:

Before Examination:

  • Computers cleaned of previous work
  • Required software installed and tested
  • Network disabled for examination
  • Backup power source available

During Examination:

  • Type script number and candidate number as header
  • Save work continuously in designated folder
  • No personal storage media allowed
  • Saving is part of examination (within 3 hours)

⚠️ Important: Every printed answer sheet MUST have script serial number and candidate number. Sheets without these details will NOT be marked and will receive a zero score.

After Examination:

  • Transfer work to institution-provided CD/memory stick
  • Print work in chronological order of candidate numbers
  • Submit both hard copy (printout) and soft copy (CD/memory stick)
  • No network printing allowed

Submit appeals for examination results or request reviews through our transparent and fair process.

If you believe there has been an error in the marking or grading of your examination, you can submit an appeal for review.

Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of result publication
Appeal fee: $50 (refundable if appeal is successful)
Review process takes 4-6 weeks

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for examinations?

You can register online through our candidate portal. You will need your institution details, personal information, and payment confirmation. Registration typically opens 3 months before examination dates.

When are examination results released?

Results are typically released 6-8 weeks after the examination date. You will be notified via SMS and email when results are available in the portal.

What documents do I need for registration?
